Boccelli captures Dain & Elbowtoe in NYC

I came across a Flickr contact who's got an impressive collection of DAIN and Elbowtoe paste-ups from all over NYC.

If you get a chance, stop by his gallery on Flickr. It's well worth the visit.

Urban Ghost sightings...Michael Talbot

It's been a while since I have been in contact with Urban Ghost's own Michael Talbot. So, I stopped in at www.urbanghost.com to see what he's been up to.

Needless to say, I was quite impressed with his latest round of shots.

Michael is one of those street shooters who just "gets it". He understands street photography and is never in fear of pushing the limits with his images and/or subject matter.

I hope you can take a closer look at his work, and discover more about the Urban Ghost.

Urban Ghost features Michael's street photography and photojournalism. You can browse the archives, or keep up to date with his latest photos in the blog section. Visit www.urbanghost.com

...I guess this will teach me not to stay away from his site for too long again.

Hope all is well, Michael.

PESTE: An interview with the artist

I call him Charlie (last name withheld for obvious reasons), but to the rest of you, it's Peste or Pester. In a recent conversation with this multi-talented graffiti artist/photographer he filled me in on his story:

GS: So what is your tag? When and how did you come up with it?

Peste: I tag Peste and Pester, I did if for quite some time when I was younger but was outta the mix for a while. I just picked it back up since moving downtown (Baltimore).

GS: Are those your supplies in the last photo?

Peste: Yes, those are my cans, or my little stash of heaven...lol.

GS: Where can I find your work? Where do you prefer to tag?

Peste: I personally prefer to tag pretty much anything but personal proerty. Corporate buildings, warehouses and government property including bridges, signs, etc are all fair game. Of course, my personal favorite place to write is home-sweet-home, B'more.

GS: What or who is Peste all about? What's your general take on graffiti as an art form?

Peste: I really look at the art form as a culmination of creative ideas weather that be in a quick hand style, a bomb, fill-in piece or a full on production. Each writer expresses themselves in a different manner and my personal opinion as a true writer is in it for personal satisfaction more then getting up all the time.

A constant journey for the smoothest style and best flow. I just hate to see people with sloppiness just getting up. I believe that the true street artists are the ones that practice all the time. These are the same artists that have a million ideas but none are good enough and that respect the wall and themselves enough to put that little extra effort “Style” behind everything they do.

GS: From where do you draw your inspiration?

Peste: We have so many good writers in town (Baltimore) there's no need to go anywhere else for inspiration!

NYC. It's depends on how you look at it.

Through the lens of the iPhone camera, one might see the sun setting between the cityscape in New York City's Midtown.

Others might see a new building standing in the darkness.

New York City...I guess it depends on how you look at it.

Mophie iPhone Battery ... it's here!

UPDATE 6-22-08
Let's just say that the Mophie Juice Pack has clearly passed the test! Fully charged it up early on Saturday morning. Spent the entire day traversing the streets of lower Manhattan, shooting photographs the whole day long.

When I arrived back at the hotel at 6:00 pm, there was still a fully charged iPhone in the cradle.

If you need extra juice...get it at www.mophie.com!

-----

As an iPhone photographer, you can imagine my frustrations at times with the very limited life of the iPhone's internal battery. My only option, thus far, has been to carry my wall-outlet charger with me, and hope that the folks at Starbucks don't mind me borrowing a little juice now and then.

Then recently, I heard about the Mophie iPhone battery from mStation. I placed an order on friday, and it arrived today (Monday). Right out of the box, I was impressed as it was 3/4 fully charged.

It feels good in the hand, and it really doesn't add that much bulk. I've already had 2 people today ask me where they could get one. I wonder if Mophie offers commissioned sales...

Look for my next posting on the performance of my Mophie.
